From the 60’s, the USA starated to develop pattern used just for the desert environment, drawing their inspiration from the Californian desert.
.
In 1973 the US Army developed the final version of this pattern, which consisted in 2 shades of brown on a beige background, all covered with little black and white pebbles.
.
Used for the first time during the ‘desert storm’ operation, the complete uniform was composed by a field jacket and cargo pants with a six color desert pattern. .
Later in the years, soldiers called this uniform ‘chocolate chip pattern’, because the little graphics pebbles elements reminded them of chocolate cookies.
